Linen Postcard Comic SamplerThis is a display of comic linen postcards from my collection. I have tried to choose a representative sample of the best designs from various manufacturers/publishers. Companies represented include Beals, Colourpicture, Curt Teich, Kropp, Metropolitan, MWM, and Tichnor. Asheville Post Card Co. was a distributor of postcards manufactured by several companies. Many unused linen postcards from Asheville have been distributed among collectors—both with and without the Asheville and/or manufacturer name. Known artists of comic linen postcards include include Jakie Irby, Walt Munson, Larry Smith, and Ray Walters. One way to collect linen comics is by publisher and/or series. The Curt Teich comics have an advantage for collectors in that most of them are part of a named and numbered set. Another common and fun way to collect is to look for postcards focusing on a single topic from all publishers. Topics such as fishing, animals, black people, fat ladies, girl watching, drinking, beach, motoring, cowboys, Indians, and outhouses are well represented among the general linen comics. Comic linen postcards can be divided into three categories:
GENERAL COMICS
WORLD WAR II COMICS
OTHER TYPES OF LINEN COMICS
